Will 2 dual channel ram sticks work on a motherboard that requires triple channel?

Given that the speeds are right and compatibility is there except no triple channel.

So will 2 sticks work from a dual channel kit in a triple channel motherboard?

Is this a good computer?

Okay, I’ve posted 2 other questions about this, but this is my final one.

Im looking for a laptop for myself, a 14 year old 8th grader. I will use it greatly for school projects, pictures, editing those pictures, music and a downloadable game or two. I need a computer that runs very smoothly for the game and has a lot of storage for many programs. I will be using the laptop every day for the game (Combat Arms, a war game) and for school things and music and so on. I have to have a laptop, and the computer I’m looking at right now is called a Studio 15 by Dell. I’ve loaded it with some good things, and I’ll post those in a moment. The price is very pricey, ,194 because I’ve put on some of the best things into the laptop. I will be doing a plan though where I pay a month. Plus, its no interest until October, 2009 and im hoping I can pay off the whole thing by then, and I think I can.

So the question is, when you look at the information about the laptop that I’ve posted below, and you know the requirements I need, is this a good computer? Any comments or suggestions? Changes I should make? Thanks in advance! ;D

This is all the information on the page. I hope it helps! Sorry if it looks confusing…

Gaming PC setup…?

This is the hardware I plan on buying to upgrade my current PC to make it way better for gaming. It’s a work in progress because I have some time before I’ll buy anything. But let me know what you think and give suggestions if you are computer savvy. Also, this is what I need. If it’s not listed then I already have it (like a HD and DVD-ROM).

ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX
***This motherboard is questionable.

EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI

COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1 ATX12V / EPS12V 650W Power Supply

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor
**Thinking of future.

2 G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit (4 GB RAM)

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler

TRIPP LITE OMNIVS1500 1500 VA 940 Watts Omni VS UPS

Total cost: 1,242.92

I plan on buying all of this from newegg.com
I do not plan on overclocking.
I do plan on using SLI in the future. I plan on adding another 8800 GT when I get the dough.
I do not want to overclock. Any other suggestions?

Will look at 500-535 W PSU.
And yes, I have an OS. Right now I have Windows XP and when I get my rig set up in month or two I will get a copy of Vista for the DX10 games.
I don’t need LED fans because I have a very old ATX Gateway Tower that is big and luxurious, but has no windows or openings for light up fans. I will look at inserting a few fans though for circulation (even though I don’t think I need them).

would this computer be good for gaming?

im not to good with puttin computers together. just for a idea about some games i play and would hope to max out are….

WoW (not to worried about =p)

Prototype – currently have on my laptop and is like est 4 fps at the lowest settings…. would love to play at high but could settle for just smooth gameplay

Dragon age – origins — dont have it yet but am considering buying it and no that it is graphicaly demanding =p

so this is just a desktop i threw together from what i have read on the internet and stuff so give me your thoughts

Is this a good gaming computer?

So I recently got a tip from someone where to get a good deal on computers, so I checked it out and I saw a good looking one that fit my budget. Now I need to know if the specs are good on this computer. Is it good enough to play games like Modern Warfare 2 without any lag?
