My friend found an old laptop in his attic, and wants to learn about computers by using using it. I ran a ethernet cable from the router that his family’s computer is hooked to, to his office. When I went to plug it in, I found out that it don’t have an ethernet jack. It does have an RJ-11 modem jack. Is there some kind of adapter, or how can he get online using this machine? It’s a Toshiba Tecra 8000. Thanks.

I just set up my computer but i can’t figure out how to get it connected to the internet. My roommates laptop is already connected to our at&t modem but i can’t connect my desktop computer to it through the netgear wireless adapter that i have that the manual says it takes or the ethernet cable. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can a 2nd computer use the Internet through the 1st computer which uses the Verizon Broadband card UM175VW? A wireless router cannot be used, since the device only plugs into 1 computer directly. However, is there another way, such as running a cable from the 2nd computer to the first computer and getting Internet through that?

I’m in college and the wireless provided by the school is unsecured. I can also use an ethernet cable. Which would be safer for online banking/online shopping?

I just wanted to know what would happen if you take out the ethernet cable from your modem. cuz i have a xbox 360 arcade i got for chrismas 2008 ive played alot of games but sill dont have live so i want to take the ether cable when nobody uses ( its a time warner modem with one connetion thing ) so can someone plz help me

One of my computers is connected via ethernet cable to the router and the other is connected to the router via wireless. The wireless on this computer is terrible for gaming and I really need to have the connection wired. I tried running an ethernet cable between the two but it was very long and looked really bad snaking through my house. Is there any way i could set up a 2nd router in the other room that would receive the internet? Also if its possible, what would i need to buy?
