Looking to buy a new computer… Which computer system is the better option? ?

I am looking at a few computers, looking for some opinions. I am not looking to spend a huge fortune, looking for great performance at the best deal. (my current laptop is gateway, have had for 6 years and love it. so I am partial to gateway, but do like HP’s warranty) I have Microsoft office 2007 here at home so I don’t need to purchase that in either computer. (I’ll add details if a comment asks a question or i feel that an answer needs explanation)

I want a new laptop. Which is better option? ?

I posted earlier a question between a Gateway and an HP. The HP was the most voted. Another told me of his opinion of Toshiba and the website, newegg.com. I did not like the reviews I read of Toshibas, but I did look into the website. So this question is between the HP and a Sony Vaio…

Nope, I don’t ever play computer games. I use computers for music, music downloads, pictures, internet, movie watching, online video watching, and some school work. Nothing major.
