My computer won’t turn on, only the 2 fans on the back, and they never stop running! Please help, is it burned?

I’ve been having a few problems with my computer. It’s like a magnet for viruses. i finally backed up all the data and did a system recovery, completely reformatted it. Then it started to act wierd, the screen would scramble up and get distorted, then would freeze, and I would have no choice but to turn it off with the button and then turn it back on after a few minutes. This happened sometimes once a week, but the day before it stopped turning on at all, it happened 3 times within the hour. I don’t know if this has a connection, but it might.

Anyway, I turned it off and went to sleep. The next day, I came home from school and found my brother telling me the computer won’t turn on. He said he came home and it was frozen and he tried to turn it off, but since he didn’t hold the on button for 5 seconds like he was supposed to, it didn’t work, so he unplugged the power wire. The wire he unplugged was actually 1 extended wire that held the computer, monitor, printer, modem, and router, so when he unplugged it, all of those things went out at once. I also don’t know if that is connected to the problem, but it might be.

So now, when i turn it on, the fan starts up and never stops. it’s also really loud, like twice as loud as usual, and it doesn’t calm down or stop. I looked at it from the back and it’s pretty dusty, and i don’t know if that affects it in any way.

There is no beeping, so i can’t really tell what the problem is based on that.

So far, I’ve gathered that since the fan runs, it’s probably not the power supply. I have no idea what a motherboard is or anything like that, so please explain it to me if you think that’s the problem becaue I’m not really a techie-person.

Here’s what happens when I turn it on:

The fan starts to run and there’s a green light on the front of the actual computer (not the monitor). It blinks for a few seconds then turns off, while the fan runs on and on.

None of the keyboard buttons work or light up, like the Caps Lock and the Num lock.

Nothing shows up on the monitor.

It’s like it doesn’t send any signals or anything like that.

Also, where the ethernet wire is, it’s light is orange.

I tried disconnecting all the wires then reconnecting them- didn’t work.

I also tried disconnecting all the wires except the power wire, then turning it on- that didn’t work either.

I’m really desperate, i have over 100 gigs of memory on there and I really don’t want to lose it.

By the way, the computer is a Windows XP media center. It’s an HP Pavillion.

Sorry I wrote an essay, and I’m hoping I didn’t bore you. All hep would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

How does a wireless router help your laptop? And where can i find a cheap one from?

how can i take my laptop to various places in my house without have it connected to the modem and phone?

How to fix my wireless signal for cheap?

I have a modem and a Cisco wireless router. i used to get signal with no problem but i recently moved to the basement and now i get weaker signal on my laptop. we have 3 laptops and ipad and ipod touch and a ps3 all working on the wireless router. What is a strong wireless router that can support all of these things while still having strong signal and at the same time not too expensive.

Where can I find the cheapest laptop cheap?

I really don’t know what the carriers i’m looking for or what I should get. But all I know is it should be enough space, ram, and able to be carried around with great service to get a WiFi system. It must be a reliable laptop. I will be using it around the house or any other home. I can easily hook it up to a modem, thumb drive opening at side, have stereo, mike, a cd player/burner. Everything will help!
