I want to change my ip address and go through a proxy server but i would like to know what is a good website to get lots of ip address and ports that are safe to use?

I have been using mozilla firefox for about a year. I shut out of the internet one day and almost emmidiatly reopened it. When the window popped up, i had an error window saying (in these words exactly): The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections
Check the proxy setting to make sure they are correct

I was recently infected with a computer virus. I got rid of it to find that my IE would not work, only FF. I checked the proxy settings to find that the settings had been changed to use a proxy server at IP 127.0.0.1 port 5555. Could this be the source of the virus? If so I would so much enjoy contacting the proper authorities.

I’ve seen online lists of proxy servers, but how to I get my game to go through these servers? Is there specfic software I must use to do it? Am I looking for a specific type of proxy server? I assume as it a game i’m not looking for an http type of connection. I am able to do it using a web tunnel, but I really wanted to use the free proxyies that are available.
