What’s the best wireless card to go in a laptop?

I know that most all laptops today come with wireless cards built in, but I was wandering if there is any one card that was better than most? I’m buying a laptop for Christmas for someone who doesn’t have internet service, so they’ll need a good wireless card to be able to connect to a local WiFi connection. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

i have both of them connected to my router which one of them dont connect to my internet correctly.

How does built-in wireless connection work in a laptop?

I understand that I can get wireless internet connection if my laptop has a built-in wireless card for as long as I’m in a "hotspot" where I get connection from radio waves. How true is that? I am planning to get a laptop, but I’m not sure if where we live now is actually a "hotspot" or not where I could use it for regular web surfing? We do have broadband internet for our desktop now, but I don’t want to have a wireless router connected to that as it is connected to my work/company’s computer, I trust wired network better for that. If there is a DSL or Cable internet provider in our area, will that give a big possibility that I will be able to get good signal for the laptop‘s wireless internet connection? Where do built-in wireless cards get their signals anyway? Is it possible that I will be getting a signal from other people’s wireless connection? Can anyone explain this to me? I’m all confused. Thanks a lot!

How exactly does wireless internet work?

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and I am getting to the point where I’m needing to fly with and go to places with my laptop. I have ATT DSL at home. They just sent me a modem (I have one already) and two wireless cards, but they look like paper cards. I don’t really know how exactly wireless internet works. Do I need another equipment? Please help!

Wireless Networking Question?

I have a wireless network using a Linksys WRT54GS router for 2 mac’s and 2 PC’s. My Mac’s have N wireless cards and my PC’s have G cards, and everything has been running fine as far as speed goes. I purchased Apple’s Time Capsule because I loved the idea of wirelessly backing up all of my mac’s. The Time Capsule is a wireless N router in addition to a storage device. Unfortunately, my internet speed has not been good since switching to the Time Capsule. I added the Linksys back to the network and connected the TC to the linksys router in bridged mode, and changed the TC setting to N only at 5ghz. This fixed the speed problem. I have the Mac’s connected to the TC network and the PC’s to the linksys network because they don’t have N capabilities. My question is, how do I print? I have the printer connected to the TC via usb, and the PC’s are not able to print because they are on the wrong network. What am I doing wrong?

why when i bridge my two wireless network cards on my laptop to my wireless router i get an ip conflict?

one Internal one use wireless nic. one wireless router from cisco.
i select both wireless cards and choose bridge connections. the resulting bridge gets an error that says there is an ip conflict. can i not connect bridge them to the same AP? my end result is trying Double my speed over the wireless.
