Perfect for Asus Eee PC 1000/Linux

I own the ASUS Eee PC 1000 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB Solid State Drive, 20 GB Eee Storage, Linux, 6 Cell Battery) Pearl White.
About a half-hour ago this Crucial 2GB 667 Mhz CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory card arrived in the mail. I opened up and removed the small plastic cover on the bottom of my computer, released the clips holding the original supplied 1 GB memory card in place (when you release the clips, the card pops up for easy removal), replaced the original card with this one, replaced the cover, inserted the battery, and turned on the computer.
This new memory card was instantly recognized.
I did NOT have to press the F2 or F10 key. I do not know why some others had to do this (and I do not doubt their experiences) but, immediately after I installed the card and turned on the computer in the normal fashion, I checked the memory available - and there was my 2 GB of RAM showing.
The entire mechanical installation process is quite simple and straightforward. The only tool necessary is a small Phillips-head screwdriver (mine came in a screwdriver set from Dollar Tree!) to remove the screws. Please note that, for the Asus Eee PC 1000 line, there are several YouTube videos which show in detail the whole process which takes no more than two or three minutes. The hardest part? Carefully removing the plastic cover on the back of the computer. The screws remove easily but there are several internal plastic clips on the sides of the cover (not visible) which must be released gently so as not to break them (they do seem robust, however).
Once the cover is removed, actually removing and replacing the memory is simple.
I have used Crucial memory cards in other laptop computers over the years and I have always found them to be completely reliable.
Therefore I highly recommend this memory card, especially for Asus Eee PC 1000 owners. |
Perfect for Acer Aspire One Netbook

| This works perfectly in an Acer Apire One netbook computer. There are plenty of video instructions online on how to insert the memory. The good news is that the newer Aspire One's have a special memory door on the back of the computer, so there is no need to dissasemble the computer like in the videos. Just find the door with the memory symbol on it. It is one screw, pop the old one out and pop in the new one. This is a cheap way to double your memory in less than 5 minutes of installation. |

| Not much to say--I unscrewed the little door on the EEE (voiding the warranty, of course), removed the original memory and stuck this one in. The laptop recognized it and all is well. I don't know if I really NEEDED to do this, but the EEE is so cool that I wanted to give it a present. |

Bought the Acer Aspire One 10.1" D250 Kit at [...]. Very nice machine, good feature set and it works. It came with the usual 1-GB RAM installed. OK but obviously only just enough. Acer sort of claims 1-GB is the max the single slot can take, but every Acer hack website says it'll take 2GB and most say that this is the 2-GB module to use. There is some debate over whether you end up with the full 2-GB or whether the system will only recognize 1.5GB or so. More on that later. I've used Crucial Memory several times before for my PCs and it has always been an excellent performer - and for $32, what the hey. So 24-hours after I bought the Acer, I ordered the 2-GB RAM. Was going out of town so I asked for 2-day shipping. The module arrived the next day - whoa! thanks!
I printed out the system specs before I started. Yup, showed 1-GB installed. Took out 1-screw, popped the panel, swapped modules and 2 minutes later I powered up again. Quite a bit quicker to load the OS, but absolutely no indication or messages that anything had changed. Opened a couple of apps, definitely quicker. And, the real reason for buying the 2-GB, I shoot a lot of digi-pics and 1-GB took forever to load the image folders and bring up the thumbnails. The D250 does that a lot quicker now, Checked the system specs again - yup, all 2-GB showing and at work. So, all-n-all, very simple to do, and a distinctly faster machine with no hitches, glitches or hiccups. Still not blazing speed, but a noticeable improvement. May not make me deliriously happy; but the 1-GB would have eventually driven me crazy and I'd have done this out of frustration. A very good experience and a worthwhile investment. And really and truly, anyone can do it. |

| I picked up this extra RAM for my Dell Mini 10v. The Dell Mini 10v comes with 1GB of RAM per Microsofts limitations (not the hardware). The disassembly procedure is fairly involved and is definitely not for a technophobe. If you doubt your tech skills, take is to a computer repair shop and have a professional do the installation. Overall, it was worth the effort. The difference in performance between 1GB and 2GB of RAM is simply AMAZING. Well worth the money. |

When I first landed on this product's page, I thought that either the price was wrong or that the product was not up to par. Well, I can now tell you that I was way off and that both the price and the product rock! Prior to buying the product, I did some research regarding whether I could install this particular chip on my Macbook; lucky for me it was a match made in heaven!
The installation process was a breeze and the difference in speed and performance was simply mind-blowing! i look forward to buying more RAM from Crucial and hopefully I'll find a 4 GB chip for my Macbook Pro... either that or I'll just have to buy two 2Gb sticks!
Updated December 3rd, 2009
Well, after a year or so I decided it was time to pimp my MB Pro once more so I went with the obvious choice: Crucial! I now have 2 2GB sticks from Crucial and performance is excellent. I recommend these sticks to anyone looking for great prices and excellent performance. |

uneducated customers shouldn't do reviews... They scare away others... Horrifying to see a misinformed customer giving bad information to others... If you don't have a clue... *SHHHHH
I've installed this on my own as well as several of my friend's netbooks... ASUS, Samsung, Acer, etc. Not once did i get a memory dump, BSOD, or errors with the RAM... This RAM WORKS.
Yes this is the 667Mhz ram. Yes the 800Mhz ram is faster... but the performance difference isn't a big one... AND its only a speed difference! Your laptop isn't going to fail all of a sudden because its the "wrong ram"... unless you got a bad stick of ram, or you're an idiot who snapped the ram installing it...
Contact AMAZON, or CRUCIAL for a RMA if its a bad one. Slap yourself if you broke it by accident.....
But yeah... This stick of ram works fine in your netbook. Stop panicking. Just add to cart and checkout. If it really bothers you, and you'll sleep better at night, get it the 800mhz one... its only 6-7 dollars difference...
If you really wanted a fast laptop... you really shouldn't be buying a netbook... |

| I had just bought a new netbook (Samsung NC10) which comes with 1GB RAM. Since that particular netbook is EXTREMELY easy to upgrade the RAM, I bought this RAM card at the same time. It was as easy as popping out the old 1GB card and popping in the new 2GB card. Booted up and immediately recognized the card. No problems since. Anyone want to buy a 1GB card? haha |

The crucial memory for my Asus netbook EEE PC 1000HA has proven a worth while buy. Especially for the cost. The item arrived within 3 days and the installation was so simple (2 screws and that's it). If you need directions go on you tube and search for EEE pc memory install and you will find a ton of simple videos.
Pros: cheap, easy to install, instantly notice the difference w/all the applications I use at once.
Cons: nothing found!
Note* some experience a blank screen. Remember to snap the memory in correctly or you will get error messages. This is a plug and play..once installed and you turn on the pc it will ask you tp press F2. Also remember once you remove the battery turn the power on to release any left over power. This is highly reccomended.

Excellent product for Windows and Macs!!

I have installed one of these 2GB Crucial RAMs on both my 20" Apple iMac Core 2 Duo T7700 (with 256MB ATI 2600XT graphics) giving a total of 3GB RAM and on my HP 14" notebook with an Intel 965 chipset (with a 256MB nVidia mobile 8000 series graphics card) also totaling 3GB of RAM. I also use Windows Vista on the iMac using Apple Bootcamp (separate partition and NOT virtual PC).
Both MAC OS X Tiger and Leopard work really fast on it (way better than 1GB of RAM), Leopard being a little heavier on the memory. As for Windows, Windows XP just explodes on power with this chip and Windows Vista becomes about 2X-3X faster.
Most games for Mac don't require much memory anyways, but Windows games like NFS ProStreet, Gears of War, Crysis and Call of Duty 4 work a lot faster, specially because excess memory is available for graphics use.
Video editing and Photo editing become noticeably quicker, while audio editing doesn't show much appreciable improvement.
In general, multi-tasking becomes a breeze. In fact, there is a lot of excess memory available (even after allotting memory for graphics) to run an Anti-Virus, 2 Messengers, Outlook, Firefox, an HD Movie and Gears Of War paused in the background. I'm not kidding, I've tried it, they were all working smoothly.
Note: It is fully compatibly with Apple iMac!! Apple will tell you that only the original Apple memory, which costs a fortune, will work BUT THEY ARE WRONG! I have been using it for the past approx. 6 months.
WORTH THE MONEY!! Must Buy!! 5 - Stars! |

I installed the Crucial 2GB 667 Mhz CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM memory chip in a Dell Mini 9 Netbook. Installation was a breeze and took only a couple of minutes. Installing the memory required a small Phillips-head screwdriver to open the memory compartment door (be careful not to lose the screw).
Keep in mind the Dell Mini 9 Netbook only has one memory slot, which means you will have to remove the memory chip that came with the Netbook to make space for the new memory chip.
Overall, performance is significantly improved when running multiple applications simultaneously (especially Internet Explorer with several tabs open). Tested with Windows XP Home and Windows 7 Ultimate Beta (Build 7000). |

I ordered this Crucial chip from Amazon and at a good price and free shipping. I purchased this for a brand new Acer Aspire One AOD250 netbook. I received the netbook as a gift and knew I wanted to upgrade the 1GB of RAM to 2GB. I removed the cover on the netbook and removed the 1 GB chip and installed this new 2GB chip before I ever started the netbook for the very first time. Total installment time was less than 5 minutes.
I then started the netbook for the first time and pressed the F2 setup to begin and to make sure it recognized this new RAM. No problems of any kind. Has worked great in the new netbook but I cannot actually tell how much faster it made it since I did not run the netbook with the original 1GB in it. Crucial is great as is Amazon and I have had excellent luck in the past with both companies. |

Amazingly cheap boost for my 1000HE

I own the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160gb HD).
First you have to open the cover plate on the bottom of the Eee. That's the ONLY scary part of this process. I've been working on computers since the days of Time-Seared HP systems, so I'm no novice. However, the friction between the plate and the case is such that it felt as if I were going to damage the computer by applying too much force. I read several reviews on line and one mentioned this and that it would be ok. So, I went ahead and applied more force and presto out came the plate without any damage. Then you just release the clips holding the original memory, the card pops up, you pull it out without any force at all, slide the new 2gb card in to replace the original card, replace the cover, reinsert the battery, and turn on the computer.
This new memory card worked like a charm and was instantly recognized. You can hit F2 while the computer is booting and go into the bios to check if you'd like, or change it manually if needed, but this is not necessary in the newer 1000HE models. As has been noted elsewhere there are YouTube videos which show the entire process - they will help the novice a great deal. |

| I purchased this memory to replace the 1GB memory module in my Acer Aspire One netbook in the Spring of 2009. It is much easier to replace the memory now with a small plastic piece being secured by a screw on the bottom of the netbook. The older memory will pop up when the connector sides are gently pushed to the side. I wish I was able to remember more about the connector so that I could describe it here. Anyway, this memory is working well for me now. Also, I believe that the latency figures on this memory are slightly better. |

Memory Upgrade for iMac

| Reviewer: Woodie, |
| I have a 24" iMac that came with 1Gig of memory. After using it for about 3 months I discover applications that crash for reasons unknown after an upgrade to the OSX Tiger upgrade. I concluded after looking into the problem that OSX has a problem with memory management. When all the memory gets used up by either leaky programs or a fault in the OS, applications get flaky. So I've increased my memory to 4Gig. Now the applications aren't crashing. So this was my fix for a bigger problem nobody seems to understand. The memory took 5 mins to install and worked perfectly. And it seemed incredibly well priced. |

This memory performs as expected; always reliable from Crucial. The problem is the netbook; which, is still a great netbook, just advertised as top of the line with a 667 FSB proc system that runs the memory at 533 MHz, CL 4. That is a over a 100MHz speed loss. Do the math.
Anyways, the battery like I said, it is still a great little netbook (Asus 1000HE) with a long battery life and that is what I wanted.
So, the memory is top-notch as usual. |

PROS
[+] Compatible with ASUS Eee PC 900A
[+] Fast and simple installation
[+] No problems encountered after installation
[+] Instructions included in package
[+] Inexpensive ($25.47 at time of purchase)
CONS
[-] Clamshell packaging
After receiving this memory kit, I simply opened the bottom panel of the ASUS Eee PC 900A with a screwdriver. I followed the instructions to remove the old memory and install the kit I ordered, then replaced the bottom panel. This process took less than a minute.
After installation, I turned on the ASUS Eee PC 900A, and the netbook acted normally. I didn't encounter any problems after that.
My only gripe with this product is that the memory kit is stored in clamshell packaging, which is annoying to open. Otherwise, this is a great product for the quality and price. |

Short and sweet...
Bought it with my Acer Aspire One to double the OEM RAM.
Made a world of difference!
Ease of installation depends on the computer manufacturer's instructions and engineering, it upped the speed of a netbook that is used in place of a fully configured audio/video production tower.
Packaging of the product is in that darned annoying thick blister plastic which is almost impossible to open without scissors and leaves sharp edges. Have a few band-aids available.

| I installed this ddr2 memory into my asus 1005ha, and what else can I say except, it does the job. 2gb is fine for Windows 7, and it basically allows you to have more windows and programs up at one time w/o getting that BSOD (blue screen of death) due to no memory. The amount of free memory on Windows 7, when nothing major is running and you are just on the desktop, varies between 900-1200mb (Again..This is plenty). How easy it is to install all depends on the type of computer you have, but most laptops just have a door on the underside of them that can be opened with a screw driver. It is like this on the 1005ha. As for speed, memory really doesn't have that much to do with speed (memory = storage) unless it begins to run low. With battery life, I really don't think it effects the battery much at all. Therefore, if you want to feel safe with Windows 7 on your EeePC netbook, go ahead and update to 2gb. Otherwise, if you using XP, there is no need. |

Ease of installation was simple literally took 2 minutes. Computer recognized the ram at startup and have had no lock ups or issues with ram. Upgrades the new HP Mini 210 netbooks

| Reviewer: William W. Davis, |
I bought one of the new HP Mini 210 netbooks (HP Mini 210-1080NR 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 9.75 Hours of Battery Life). This RAM upgrade was one of the recommendations from Amazon (Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought...). Rather than researching the recommendation to make sure that the 2GB module really would work inside the HP Mini 210, I just bought the memory module, figuring if it didn't work, I could just return it back to Amazon.
Turns out, this 2GB module works just fine inside my HP Mini 210 netbook. No troubles at all removing the old, 1GB module and replacing it with this 2GB module. After installation, Windows immediately recognized the full 2GB of RAM, and I got a noticeable performance bump (boot-up time to the Windows login screen went from 45-50 seconds to 35-40 seconds).
Not sure how to do the RAM upgrade on your Mini 210? Do a Google search on "how to upgrade RAM hp mini 210" to see a great video on the details of that.

| When I first saw the page for this RAM, I was little bit wary. 2 GB RAM stick for only $45 (plus S & H)? Luckily, I ordered two for my 13.3" 2.2 GHZ MacBook (Santa Rosa) to max it out at 4 GB. It arrived promptly and my friend installed it for me in like two minutes. It's quite an easy process and it is possible for you to do it yourself. I just wanted to be safe. As soon as I turned on my computer, it recognized and has been speeding ever since. I've had numerous windows on the same desktop and it hasn't even stuttered. So make it worth your while and get 4 GB of RAM for about $100, which is just a fraction of the price Apple sells it at. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!! |

| I'd already bought the memory through Amazon since it showed up as a "buy together" with the EEE PC 1000HE I was buying, also through Amazon. I was concerned that this was not the memory that comes up when you visit the Crucial web site. I posted a question in the forum there, but went ahead and gave it a try anyway. Easy to install, just following the instructions you can find at multiple locations online. Working fine. I did have to do the thing of tapping F2 to bring up to get the EEE PC 1000HE recognize the additional memory. |

Minor Trouble Installing - Blank Screen
|
| Review Date: June 28, 2009 |
| Reviewer: R. Tepper, |
| Hi. It is working fine. When you install it, you might want to check to see if when you pull the clamps apart to release the chip, if the newly installed chip pops up. I installed it about 3 times, because I was getting a blank screen. My chip was not popping up, when I removed it. This was because I did not push it into its slot a bit. It moved in snugly, without much force. Then when I tried removing it, it popped up as it should. So I slid it back into place, snugly, and closed the compartment again and turned on my computer and voila, I have 2gb of ram! Yay! So far, I have not noticed a huge amount of change, but hoping it will kick in when necessary. |

| Amazing value for the price. I put this in an ASUS 1000HE and it was very easy to install. Remove power and batteries from the computer and then you remove the bottom cover by removing two screws. The screws are little so don't lose them. Then you just push the two capture wings to the outside and the card pops out at you. Put the new card in, push down and push the capture wings back in to hold the circuit card down. Put the cover back on with the two screws, put the battery back in and you're done. I don't know what I'm doing but it took me only 5 minutes to do it. |

| If anyone's curious if this memory module works in a late 2006 MacBook Pro (the one that predates Santa Rosa), it does. Crucial's site recommends part CT613255 for that computer, but it's easier/faster/cheaper to order from Amazon. I'd guess they're the same memory, with a special part number for Apple products, and Amazon only stocks the generic form. |

Remember to press F2 to reboot your BIOS!
|
| Review Date: September 17, 2009 |
| Reviewer: T. Brosnahan, |
As it has been stated and in case you miss it: When upgrading RAM make sure to refresh your BIOS by hitting F2 until you enter into the BIOS. You should see that the system is now reading all of your RAM and then hit F10 to save changes even though you did not really make any in the BIOS. This allows the computer to now "see" your upgraded RAM. Otherwise your computer might only see the original amount of RAM.
Other than that, this memory is excellent and so is Crucial's website. It has a tool for checking out your memory on any computer and telling you what kind you need to buy and how much you can upgrade it. Check it out on the company's website. |

You do need to go to the settings at boot up and make sure you are set at 2 GB, then save the new settings. Once this is accomplished the Asus recognized the new memory. Took longer getting the memory stick out of the package than to actually change out. |

| This 200-Pin SODIMM works with the ASUS 900A Netbook running Windows XP Pro, although finding any specific documentation of that fact is confusing at best. After I compared the specs for this module with the one indicated using the Crucial websites memory locator, it became apparent that this chip was close enough (without going into the technical specs of memory chips) in comparison to be worth trying it for the approximately 25% lower cost over the closest similar chips. My wife is happy with the better performance. |

Popped 2 of these (i.e. 4GB total) into my Dell Latitude D630 over a year ago in place of a single 1GB.
Pros:
- Dramatic improvement in performance, as expected.
- Great price.
- Reliable - still going strong after a year with no known issues.
- Very few BSODs (XP Pro) and I know the ones I did get were caused by Logitech drivers.
Other notes:
- XP only recognized 3.2 of the 4GB, since it only supports a max of 4GB addressing including address space for all the other system components such as display, ports, etc. (that used up the remaining 0.8GB). I could have probably done a 2+1 GB instead, but its not a significant difference in price, so I have no regrets.
- If you're not sure what memory type your laptop supports, try the Crucial memory finder to determine the RAM specs compatible with your laptop model and then shop for those specs (irrespective of the brand you eventually choose). Note that laptop memory is 200-Pin and desktop memory is 184-pin. Also, DDR and DDR2 are not compatible with each other; DDR is much more expensive and that can't be helped. |

I have installed this module in my EeePC 901 in less than 5 minutes. Nothing especial was required, even in the BIOS and my OS (Eeebuntu) detected it without any problems.
I didn't notice any speed improvement as I recently changed my SSD from the original one to a faster one, and that was definitively the bottleneck in the speed of the system. Although this memory is CL5 and the original one is CL4, I see the same performance. |

| Great buy (it literally took me longer to tear the thing out of the Victorian chastity-belt style plastic packaging than it did to install it in the computer). Was worried that it wouldn't work on a Gateway LT2005u netbook, but after swapping out the old memory, the netbook booted up just fine. A note on the Gateway LT2005u- the processing speed is only 533MHz, so anything over that is a little bit of overkill. This processor is 667MHz and works just fine; there is also an 800MHz processor 2GB listed on Amazon by Crucial (CT25664AC800) for those of you looking for a bump-up. |

but don't change the memory card 2GB from the 1 GB if you are not yet set up first for the NEW COMPUTER for the OS, because it doesn't work if you change it without set up the new computer first. Let the RAM working first with the 01 GB Memory Card then Change it with the 2 GB memory card. |

| Bought this for the Asus Eee 1005pr-pu17-bk. No issues whatsoever. Recognized immediately. Netbook was fast before but is flying now. Can't believe how fast it makes the netbook start up and connect to the wireless network. Can also play Farmville faster, among other things. For the price it's a good value. Have seen 2GB memory modules for $100 or more. I honestly don't see how you can go wong. Crucial-brand memory has a reputation for excellence. By the way, the "F2" key issue mentioned in other reviews is unique to Asus netbooks. Asus has a special feature in the startup process that needs to be disabled before any hardware changes (like changing memory) are made to the netwook. When the netbook is first powered on, you need to hit F2 and disable a feature ("Boot Booster") using a menu that comes up. After you disable the feature and the netbook finishes starting up, you power down the netbook completely, remove the memory from the underside of the netbook, install the new memory, power on and then hit F2 to Enable the feature again. |

Bought this as part of the Amazon package with an Asus Netbook. Works fine, no setup hassles. More than enough memory to run most anything under WIN XP. It's probably mandatory for that tragic WIN 7 version that comes on the newer models (even more so when you get disgusted with that and upgrade to WIN 7 Home Premium).
Had a bit of a problem figuring out the installation (there are no instructions with the chip or in the netbook docs) but, even so, it took less than 10 minutes.

It does what it's supposed to do, and it really sped up my EeePC 1000HA. The reason I chose Crucial over the OCZ stick that Amazon tries to push you to buy with most EeePC's is because I like Crucial's customer support a lot better.
Solid product, excellent reliability, system stability, and great customer support. I'm happy. Thanks Crucial and Amazon! |

| Great memory mod. Easy to install. Using it in my Samsung NC-10 netbook and having no problems. The price was great too. Some of these memory modules are going for upwards of $[...] bucks regular retail. This was less than half of that. |
Must Buy!

| This product should definetly be purchased with any upgrade-*ABLE* netbook. There is virtually no wait time now for multiple programs to simultaneously run on my netbook. |

| I used this to upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2GB on a Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery, XP Home) Blue. It was easy to install, and worked perfectly. If you're going to get an NC10, pick this up too! |
Works perfectly

| I bought this to replace the 1GB RAM in my new Samsung NC10. Works perfectly. The netbook's speed was good with only the 1GB, but the 2GB makes it very quick. |
Excellent Memory Upgrade For My Samsung NC10 Netbook!

| Installing the Crucial 2GB memory upgrade was a snap, taking only about a minute to do, and has significantly increased the processing speed on my Samsung network. In addition, I have been able to install and run several additional programs and devices on my own without any sacrifice in speed or performance ( Microsoft Office, McAfee Total Protection, and the VLC multi-media player to name a few). Overall, an excellent memory upgrade for a netbook at an excellent price. |
Works fine in 2GHz Lenovo 3000 N200.

Super easy to put in, worked on first boot up. The additional resources on a netbook is a must.
