Fax Rolls and Fax Cartridges: Whats the Difference?

Fax cartridges and fax rolls of paper are very common in the workplace today. We hardly even think about it before we tell someone to “fax that over to me”. Faxes make life so much easier for us than in the past when things had to be mailed back and forth through the postal system.

The fax machine was actually invented long ago. Alexander Bain invented the fax machine in 1843 and received a patent. He was a Scottish mechanic and his idea was an off-shoot of Samuel Morse’s invention of the telegraph. In 1902, Dr. Arthur Korn made improvements to the machine adding the photoelectric system to the idea. AT&T worked to improve the technology and in 1924 created a means of transmitting pictures for newspapers over long distances. In 1955, the first fax transmission across the continent occurred. Since then, there has been amazing progress.

Today’s fax machines, fax cartridges and fax rolls are inexpensive enough that just about every office and many homes have this capability. These automated machines are small, easy to use and affordable to purchase and operate.

Fax cartridges contain the toners which bonds to the fax roll paper using an electrostatic process. The transmission comes over the telephone line, audible to humans as a bunch of beeps and buzzes. The fax understands how these signals mean for the toner to be affixed to the paper to provide the exact image as the document being faxed over.

Fax paper rolls are a special type of paper that allows the toner to bond properly. The paper feels somewhat slick to the touch. One fax roll will produce many faxes.

Fax cartridges can be obtained as original or non-original equipment and also as refurbished equipment. Original fax cartridges are the most expensive solution because these cartridges are brand new and are not expected to be refilled. Non-original fax cartridges are generic cartridges made by a different manufacturer than the original fax cartridge. These are less expensive than the original fax cartridges. The least expensive solution is the refurbished, refilled fax cartridges. These cartridges have been used and then recycled, reconditioned and refilled for another use. Usually, when using this type of fax cartridge, you purchase a refurbished cartridge for your fax, use the cartridge and then return it for recycling and obtain another refurbished cartridge.

Fax machines which use fax cartridges and fax rolls have become so inexpensive today. Many business contracts are signed and processed via the fax machine. Some of the biggest deals in business today are finalized by fax. If you do not yet own one of these handy machines, you’ll be surprised when you learn how affordable they are and how much time can be saved by the use of a fax machine with a fax cartridge and fax roll

Ink & Toner Cartridges: Original vs Non-original Cartridges and Why Should You Care ?

Original cartridges, filled with ink or toner, arrive in the box with your new printer or fax equipment. These cartridges are made by the same manufacturer or produced for that manufacturer as brand new equipment and no parts have ever been used. Happily, you set up your new equipment, install the cartridge and begin to print or fax. After some time, the ink or toner runs out and you have to purchase another cartridge. This is where sticker shock can occur. The cost of toner cartridges or ink cartridges can be quite expensive, especially if you print or fax a lot.

Original cartridges are always a choice you can make when purchasing equipment for your printer or fax. But they are not the only solution. Non-original cartridges can be purchased at quite a savings.

Non-original cartridges are available in two different types: compatible cartridges and remanufactured cartridges. But what is the different? There’s a great deal of different between the two types.

Non-original cartridges are simply those made by a manufacturer other than the original equipment manufacturer that fit your printer or fax perfectly. These cartridges carry a different brand name than that of your printer or fax machine but, if you choose the cartridge that is clearly marked to be the correct one for your equipment, these will work perfectly and cost less than the original cartridges.

Remanufactured cartridges are actually recycled cartridges. If remanufactured by a reputable company, these work just like original equipment. This type of non-original cartridge is, quite simply, an empty cartridge that has been cleaned, parts replaced where necessary, ink or toner refilled, quality checked and then the refreshed cartridge is packaged for sale. These cartridges not only save the environment by spotting empty cartridges from ending up in the landfill, but they can save you lots and lots of money. If you choose a reputable company, these cartridges are every bit as good as the original cartridges and any reputable company will guarantee their cartridges, replacing any that do not work correctly.

If you have ended up with stacks and stacks of empty toner or ink cartridges hidden in your storage room because you don’t know what to do with these empties, they should be recycled. You can locate a cartridge remanufacturing company in your area and drop off these empties, doing your part of help the environment.

If you have tried refilling ink jet cartridges, you already know what a messy, messy job that can be and how often the process doesn’t work right at all. Either the refilled cartridge dumps ink all over your page or doesn’t feed ink at all. Non-original cartridges, because of their low price, allow you to avoid this hassle. It is so much easier to just remove the non-original cartridge from the box and install it than to clean up after a messy refill attempt that may not work anyway

It’s just not business that derives benefits from web conferencing. If you and your family live apart and can not meet often, this can form an excellent form of communication with them.

When you are sitting in web conference, there are certain etiquettes that need to be followed. One must speak slowly and always try to be clear. Listening to other person attentively is important so that they do not have to repeat themselves.

Before you start a web conference it’s a good idea to check the equipment. Always test the system before the conference starts so that there is no interruption in the middle of conference. Check variables like lighting, seating arrangements and microphone position, background etc. Keep an extra monitor with you so that the conference participants can see themselves on the screen.

Proper care must be used when organizing the conference, as some people may be in different time zones. Remember to press the mute button when not talking, in order to prevent echo. If a problem of echo is there, consider using echo cancellers. It’s possible that the audio or video quality may be poor at the beginning of the conference. Try adjusting the microphone position, lighting etc. This may fix the problem. If things do not improve, hanging up and redialing or even rebooting the system may be necessary. If there are issues at one end, always information should be passed on to all the other parties so that they are not troubled due to disruption.

Although setting up a full fledged studio might be expensive, it pays over a period of time. If it is felt that costs will not justify returns consider renting the equipment. Lot of firms will easily provide good technicians as well as equipment for good conferencing service.

Web conferencing has made life easier for us be it business or personal lives. It is a great way of exchanging information and keeping in touch as well.

Shopping For Low Cost Computers

Computers are today our basic requirements. When we work we need them to connect with other people, retrieve information and control manufacturing units. At home we chat, play games, use them for interactive activities like pod casting and for watching movies etc. There are lots of places you can shop for computers, if you are planning to either replace an existing one or buy a new one. One resource for low cost computers is Dell.

Dell is a leading US-based computer hardware company, Dell Inc. Dell has over 63,700 employees the world over. Dell’s operations span development, manufacture, support and marketing of personal computers, servers, data storage devices, network switches, personal digital assistants (PDAs), software, peripherals, etc. The location of Dell headquarters is in Round Rock, Texas, USA.

In 2005, Forbes 500 ranked Dell 28th among the largest US companies revenue-wise. Dell topped Fortune magazine‘s annual list of the most admired US companies the same year. The company’s press releases in January 2005 revealed increased international sales for the first two quarters of the fiscal year 2005. An ominous article “It’s Bad to Worse at Dell” appeared in the November 2005 edition of BusinessWeek, predicting decline in earnings and sales and a pessimistic third financial quarter prediction. Faulty capacitors on motherboards of the Optiplex GX270 and GX 280 had already been acknowledged by Dell at a loss of $300 million, which CEO Kevin Rollins partially blamed a low-end PC focus on.

Around 2004, a Dell Dimension desktop PC was marketed with different brand names for different consumer segments. OptiPlex, Latitude and Precision were for medium and large business clients, advertising durability, reliability and functionality. The Dimension Inspiron and XPS brands are ideal for consumers, students and small offices due to value, performance and expansion. The recently re-introduced Dell XPS targets the gaming segment. Silver instead of black cases is used for Dell XPS desktops. Non-computer products started with the portable digital audio player, Digital Jukebox or Dell DJ, apart from USB keydrives, LCD tvs, Windows mobile PDAs and printers.

Brand names for product ranges include OptiPlex for office desktops, Dimension for desktops, Latitude for commercial laptops, Inspiron for consumer laptops, Precision for workstations and high-performance laptops, PowerEdge for larger corporate servers; PowerVault for direct-attach and network-attached storage (NAS), Dell EMC for storage area networks, XPS for enthusiast/high-performance systems and Axim for PDAs utilizing Microsoft’s Windows Mobile.

Microsoft Windows XP is Dell’s current choice for most new computers along with Red Hat and SUSE for servers. Bare-bones computers minus pre-installed software have considerably lower rates. Licensing contracts with Microsoft ensures availability on request only, with a FreeDOS disk included. A Windows refund is issued after a regular retail price sale.

Dell’s Windows comes with substantial software. There have been accusations of spyware and instructions to technical support team to avoid de-installation. Dell made no secret of an offer to Apple for a future Intel version of Mac OS X but the latter chose to run OS only on Macs, declining to license Mac OS X to Dell.

Save Time And Money With IP Service Video Conferencing

Need to have a big business meeting in a hurry, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on travel expenses and lodging? Maybe you’re searching for a cost-effective way to connect employees in different locations for collaborative efforts?

Try video conferencing over the Internet. All it takes is two computers, two desktop cameras and you’re pretty much good to go. The only thing better would be to never have to attend a meeting in the first place, but since that’s not possible, why not go the next best route?

Video conferencing over the Internet using smart software offers some advantages that a teleconference could never provide. In addition to the obvious plus of avoiding travel and its related expenses, video conferencing over the net can give users these advantages:

Ability to see, talk and exchange ideas in real-time.

Low cost, high tech alternative to globe trotting for business.

The possibility to still give full presentations, such as those using PowerPoint and so on.

Real-time exchange of ideas that’s the next best thing to face-to-face.

No long distance or even international charges like a teleconference would require.

Depending on the service used, the number of meeting attendees can be as large as needed to get the job done.

Thanks to video conferencing over the Internet, there’s really no need to foot the bill for a lot of business travel. Anything that would require a face-to-face meeting can be accomplished over the Internet and there are even ways to “share desktops” so the person on the other end of the connection can not only see you through the camera, he or she can see your presentation or documents.

If you’re avoiding video conferencing because you fear you’ll lose money rather than make it, think again. Properly set up, this modern day alternative to the face-to-face can not only provide a capital outlay savings, it can be personable and effective.

For those who want to video conference with clients or potential clients, all that’s necessary is to make sure both ends have the appropriate equipment. For those that want to video conference with employees who might be in other parts of the country or world, simply make the equipment mandatory in outer offices.

The advantages for inner office communications are many. They include allowing employees in remote locations to share information instantly and even brainstorm ideas and projects without having to take time away from the office for travel. That saves your bottom line twice!

Dealing with clients, too, can be enhanced by this technology in that this type of meeting saves your client the time and trouble of travel or having to adjust schedules to accommodate your visit.

It may seem a little awkward at first, but video conferencing over the Internet is fast becoming how business gets done. There’s no reason to wait days or even hours to meet when all it takes is a few clicks of a mouse and you’re right in the boardroom!
