Why a Home User Needs Remote Backup

Whenever most people think about data backup, they considered that it is only really necessary for people that are in business. The fact of the matter is, however, a home user has just as much sensitive data on their computer as many businesses do.

If you have never experienced a total data loss as a result of a computer crash, you really can’t appreciate how devastating it can truly be. Think of all the sensitive material that you have on your computer that can never be replaced. Things like pictures, music files, e-mails and documents that were sent to you. All of these things may have special meaning to us and if they are lost because of a computer crash or other problem, we may not be able to get them back.

There are several different options when it comes to backing up your home PC. One of the most common options is to take it directly from your PC to a local backup drive. Many of these are external drives that tend to sit on your desk and collect the data that comes off of your computer. Although this may do good for you in case of a computer crash, if something should happen, you may find yourself totally out of luck. For example, what if a surge should hit and your computer and backup drive are both destroyed the very same time. Are you going to take the opportunity to move your backup drive to a secure location in all of the time? That hardly makes it convenient.

A much better idea is for you to have a remote backup server in order to store all of your sensitive data offsite. This is not only a good idea when it comes to a business, it is an excellent idea for home users who have data that they do not want to lose on their computer. There are several things that you need to look for in one of these remote backup services, however, in order to make sure you get everything that you need.

First of all, the backup needs to happen automatically. If you’re anything like me, you’re not going to take the time to manually backup your computer on a regular basis. You should be able to schedule these automatic backups to happen whenever you’re not actually sitting at the computer, perhaps overnight, so that it does not slow down your computer while you’re working on it.

You should also be able to browse the files on the remote server. This is an excellent choice to have, just in case you should have a corrupted file or perhaps a document that will not open. It would be a simple thing to log in to your remote server, browse for that file and download it from there.

One thing that should not be overlooked is that your information is secure, no matter where it is stored. If you are using a remote backup service, see that they offer redundant servers as well as multiple data locations in order to make sure that you are as secure as possible.

What kind of files do you keep on your computer that can not be replaced? Don’t let data loss make you lose anything irreplaceable. For more information on what our remote backup services can do for you, visit our website at http://www.databackupcentral.com/backup

Save Your Sensitive Laptop Data

If you own a laptop, you might be aware of the fact that they get stolen very frequently. It is a simple thing for somebody to pick up your laptop bag whenever you are traveling or if you happen to be out with it someplace. Even if we try very carefully to make sure that we watch it, it still may disappear quicker than you can imagine. Unfortunately, you are not only losing a machine which can be replaced, you may be losing data as a result of the theft. Of course, it is not only theft that causes data loss. Laptops also have more sensitive components and they tend to have difficulties more often than a secure desktop unit.

Unfortunately, it is very rare for a laptop to be backed up. One of the reasons why this is the case is because laptops are not typically tied directly into the network in order to be backed up as a desktop unit is. If there are any backups of the sensitive data on a laptop, they only occur on occasion because of the inconvenience of hooking it into the network and that running the backup manually. This can leave your data very vulnerable and open to a multitude of different problems.

One of the best ways that you can take care of the situation is to have an automatic remote backup service available for your laptop. Caution should be taken, however, as not all of these remote services are built the same. Some of them may not have the proper measures in place in order to make it convenient for you to backup your laptop. Since the reason it is not getting backed up in the first place is because of inconvenience, it would be odd to think that you would use a remote backup service any more regularly.

One thing that a remote backup service for your laptop must have in place are automatic backups that are also very flexible. Just because you have a laptop with an Internet connection does not necessarily mean that you’re always going to be hooked into a network. Once you are, however, your laptop should automatically recognize the fact that you are hooked into the network and available for an automatic backup. Even if you disconnect from the network in the middle of a backup, it should have the means necessary in order to resume the backup from that point.

Another thing that you may need to take into consideration is the fact that the data that is being transferred must be transferred securely in order to keep hackers from being able to access it. Don’t allow your sensitive data to be compromised as a result of making sure that it is securely stored off-site.

Keep these things in mind whenever you’re looking for a remote backup solution for your laptop. Not only can it help to keep your data safe, it can make it convenient for you should something out of the ordinary happened.

Laptop theft and data loss are common. Make sure that you don’t lose any of your files if something should happen to yours. For more information on what our remote backup services can do for you, visit our website http://www.databackupcentral.com/backup

A Look At The Final Fantasy XI Character The Beastmaster

The beastmaster is simply what it literally means, which is a master of beasts. It tames monsters and uses them for its own purpose. Creatures do not remain tamed forever though as the time you get to keep them is random. Beastmasters are not as powerful as warriors, but they are very good for those who like to go solo or always hunt and go alone for they can tame monsters to come to their aid. The beastmaster can use many different active abilities to tame and command its’ pets.

The beastmaster’s job revolves around their ability to tame monsters. A tamed monster becomes the beastmaster’s pet, following the beastmaster around and attacking their foes upon command.

Beastmasters usually tame monsters of equal or lower level. While beastmasters can tame higher-level monsters, it is not advisable to do this as these monsters can return to their hostile and wild state and you could lose control over it at unexpected times.

Beastmasters can command their pets to attack a foe. The pet will remain totally allegiant to the beastmaster until the pet dies or the maximum duration for control expires or the monster breaks the spell.

The beastmaster is an extra job that must be quested before reaching level 30 and at that time it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the final fantasy xi world by the time you are ready to attempt the beastmaster quest.

Switching to the beastmaster job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in that job.

One of the main uses of a beastmaster pet is as a tank. Often, monsters attack the first thing that attacks them. This allows the beastmaster to have their pet absorb a large amount of the damage in a fight while simultaneously keeping their party safer.

To become a beastmaster make sure you have the right level required. You can now go to the lower jeuno area and talk to the npc named dietmund, located at the G11 merchants door. Click on the door and the character will come out and would ask you to get him some night flowers. Next go to location F8 of qufim island. Walk down the small passage at the cliff and click on the night flowers. Remember that you can only obtain the flowers at night when they start to glow. You can now go back to dietmund. There will be a cut scene, after this is finished talk to the chocobo house owner brutus in upper jeuno to complete the quest.

After all of this is done you can now be a beastmaster at your mog house.

The World of Warcraft Character The Dwarf

The stoic dwarves of ironforge are an ancient race of rugged humanoids that live beneath the snow-capped mountains of khaz modan. The dwarves have always been quick allies with the humans, and they revel in the prospects of battle and storytelling alike.

In past ages, the dwarves seldom left the security of their mountain fortresses. Nevertheless, when the call to battle sounded, they rise to defend their friends and allies with unmatched courage and valor. Due to a recent discovery that uncovered fragments of their ancient origins, the dwarves have undergone a remarkable transformation.

The discovery convinced the Dwarves that the mighty titans created them from stone when the world was young. They feel that their destiny is now to search the world over for more signs and proof of their enchanted heritage and to rediscover the titans’ hidden legacies. To this end, the dwarves have sent out their prospectors to all ends of the world in the hopes of discovering new insight into their shrouded past. These journeys led to dwarven excavation sites all over the known world, some of which serve as outposts and some of which serve as potential hunting grounds for enemies of the dwarven race.

Following the first war between the orcs and humans, the people of stormwind withdrew to lordaeron. As a second wave of orcs swarmed through the dark portal, the dwarves of ironforge and the wildhammers of aerie peak committed their troops and services to the alliance. Their gryphon riders turned out an invaluable in the ensuing battles.

Enlisting both the ogres and forest trolls into their fold, the orcish horde moved first to conquer the lands of khaz modan and the southern lands of lordaeron. They effortlessly eliminated all opposition. They were only blocked from total conquest by the gates of ironforge. Try as they might, the orcs were ultimately incapable to breach the ancient doors. As things were looking grim for the alliance, the horde began to splinter from within due to the treachery of the warlock gul’dan.

Seeing the weakness, the commanders of the alliance moved in for the kill. At the final battle on the slopes of blackrock mountain, the powerful armies of the savage horde were at last defeated in a dreadful and bloody rout. When the war ended, many of the members of the alliance separated, but the dwarves of ironforge pledged an eternal debt of honor to them for liberating khaz modan from the horde’s control.

The dwarves under the faction of the alliance bring into battle their courage and strength with classes you could choose from: warrior, paladin, hunter and priest. Their home city is iron forge and starts out in the cities of anvilmar and dun morogh. They could mount battle rams and gryphons. With the following racial traits to aid them in battle:

Spyware And Adware Learn To Protect Yourself

People think that there is actually no difference between a spyware and an adware. Spyware is just a web term used to refer to an advertising supported software, which is otherwise known as adware. These are the pop-up ads that often come out whenever we open a website or download a shareware software. But according to some web experts, spyware is much much more dangerous.

Supporters of spyware and adware say that though it can be pretty annoying at times especially if you are really in a hurry, both do give consumers huge benefits. Because the product ads generate income for developers of shareware software, consumers can get them for free. Developers are in turn paid for their work. Of course, if you don’t want to be bothered by the constant pop-ups, you can always pay the licensing fee or the regular fee for the software. If you want it for free, you just have to sacrifice through the spyware.

There is however another downside to it. Spyware, from the name given to it, is actually used as a tracking device in your computer system. These tracking devices will look into your surfing habits, your chatting logs and even the number of times you open your email. If designed or programmed the right way, it can discover just about everything else in your system.
And because the program runs in the background, there is no way that a person can control the kind of information that he or she sends out.

These kinds of programs were actually originally used by parents or people in the business sector who wish to track down and put on record web activity. It is actually beneficial but not when people are not aware that they are being tracked down. This is often the case when people download software over the Internet. As mentioned before, it is used by companies to advertise their products and in turn help the developers of software keep their costs down so that they can afford to offer their programs for free.

Although privacy issues indeed come into play, there is nothing illegal about it. In fact, its use is prevalent all over the World Wide Web. There are however some areas that people who value their privacy will object to. Because of this, people are given the option to refuse the software.

There is really no way that one can avoid adware and spyware as these programs are packaged with the software that you will be downloading from the Internet. The most that you can do is to avoid downloading from the internet and to refuse any file downloads that you did not personally authorize. It is also good to only view websites that have a good reputation or those that have anti-spyware and adware programs installed in their pages.

CGI Is Essential In Planning

Estate agents are closing down at a rate of 150 a week because of the current UK financial crisis. The housing market has slumped and properties are not moving anywhere near the rate that they were in previous years. This means that competition between estate agents to stay afloat is huge and any tactics they can employ to be top of their game should be used.

There are the small scale agents that look after the property sales in their own town or village that stretch to one or two branches. They print out house details in sketchy black and white pictures with what look like hand drawn layouts and this has sufficed for a long time. There are the larger scale estate agents also who have got by on better quality print outs of house details with pictures and floor plans.

However, to be top of the game, you really need state of the art technology like CGI (computer generated imagery) to really sell a property. People lead immensely busy lives these days and many do not want to be taking silly amounts of time off work to go house hunting. CGI means that they can log on to the internet during their lunch breaks and take virtual tours of homes without leaving their seats.

This will reduce the time needed to go round and make personal visits and means the choice can be drastically narrowed down to make it easier. A flat picture gives no idea of the scale or feel to a property’s interior whereas CGI truly brings it to life. With a choice of still imagery or virtual tours, CGI will give you a picture of an interior or exterior. It will take you on a tour of a room, entire home or the outside of any building giving a realistic picture of how much space is going to be available.

It gives the viewer an indication of how their own furniture would fit into a room, or how it could look if they lack imagination. One of the best applications for CGI is when property is put up for sale before it is built. Working from architect’s plans a CGI specialist will construct an image of what the finished product will look like. This is ideal for new builds when there is nothing to physically view. Builders will often construct half the homes on a site in the hope that selling these will provide the revenue to finish the project and CGI is the ideal tool for the job.

Another application is actually in the architect’s office itself. Knowing the size of a building is one thing, being able to computer generate it into flat line drawings is also useful. To actually be able to provide builders with a CGI is invaluable and also gives those commissioning the architect a much better idea if the proposed building meets all their requirements, reducing the need for costly changes later on.

An interior designer will also find CGI becoming an important aspect of their work. They can programme it to take into account the direction and amounts of light that enter a room and the effect it will have on furnishings and colours. It also gives a sense of space and is very handy when it comes to deciding on the size of furniture to be purchased.

CGI is very often used when it comes to constructing corporate buildings numbers of staff and equipment need to be housed in certain space. So, whether buying, selling, building, decorating, or planning, CGI is a tool that has moved from useful to essential to be ahead of the game.

Design expert Catherine Harvey looks at how the useful tool of CGI is applied to building work. To find out more please visit http://www.bluecubestudios.com/

Secure IP Telephony, Issues and Threats

The heavy adoption of IP-based telephony has triggered concerns regarding potential security issues and threats have risen proportionally. This necessitates the need to make IP telephony secure. Many of the concerns relating telephony security are the same for both traditional TDM technology and IP-based systems. However, IP-based telephony gives rise to additional areas of insecurity, which if not managed in the right way, may lead to threats.

Many VoIP deployments are established with performance and quality of service as top requirements for the converged network. Mistakenly, security was not given enough emphasis at the time of deployment. Due to the fact that these business critical telephony services are now working on a multi-service network, that, if not secured properly, can put the security and integrity of said services in danger. Security as an add-on is far from acceptable and may in fact be detrimental.

A recently published report states that VoIP systems can be expected to be more susceptible than conventional telephone systems, partly because they are attached to the data network, leading to additional security vulnerabilities and possibilities of attack.

Fortunately, most IP-based networks today already possess integrated security capabilities and the widespread experience residing in the traditional voice world can be summoned to bear on the common issues. By increasing the capabilities across both spheres, IP telephony can be as reliable, even more reliable, than conventional telephony systems.

Threats to IP telephony can come from various areas. Theft of service is related with the toll fraud by way of the unauthorized utilization of telephony services. Monopolizing resources maliciously or accidentally so as to thwart normal operation can be referred to as denial of service. Eavesdropping includes encroachment of privacy via listening in on telephone conversations or illegal access to messaging services like voicemail.

Theft of service assumes equal significance both as a policy definition and enforcement issue, and as a technology one. Technology is ideally applied when it can spot theft of service events and make sure the ongoing enforcement of policies to counter them. Tools that identify anomalies in call patterns and spot potential telephony abuse and fraud are obtainable in the marketplace today.

Many of the threats to enterprise IP telephony are not typical to telephony but common to many IP-based applications on the network. Establishment of best-practice security methods for IP telephony will push forward overall security across many other network-based applications. If established properly, IP telephony can be made more secure than conventional TDM telephone services at a reduced cost.

While taking into account an investment in IP telephony, the more planning and analysis is done at the beginning, the fewer worries during and after deployment. An infrastructure assessment and risk assessment should be included to every IP telephony project.

The right partner can assist determine if the prevailing infrastructure has the capacity and resilience to provide the required backup to IP telephony and deliver a level of uptime consistent with the organization’s tolerance for potential threats. System integration firms with both converged networking and security policies will be equipped to plan, build and back-up secure IP telephony infrastructure keeping with industry-accepted best practices.
