Reviews of Registry Easy, RegCure, and Registry Mechanic

Doing a comparison of three top registry repair products in one review is not easy. Each of the mentioned products has a special set of unique features that gives each good value to the user. There is an incredible amount of information about each but only a small sampling will be provided here.

No matter which product you choose, you are in good hands to fix slow computer problems, crashing or freezing computer issues, delayed responses, slow start ups or constant rebooting, and rid of problems adding and removing software from your computer.

Overall Ranking: Based on Individual Scores from the Criteria Mentioned Below

1. Registry Easy
2. RegCure
3. Registry Mechanic

Criteria Number One: Usability/User Friendliness

All three of the mentioned products were extremely easy to download and had options to understand each feature within the user interface window.

Descriptions of each of the user options in each of the product user interfaces are well explained and can be used by a complete novice.

All three products scored a tie in this category.

Criteria Number Two: Support/Customer Service

Registry Easy was the first to respond to me in time test emails. This is an important indication of what service you will get later if needed. Registry Mechanic was the second to respond and Regcure was a distant third.

Criteria Number Three: Unique Features

Though the purpose of the software is registry repair, there are some extended features that make Registry Easy the best deal for the price paid. For example, Registry Easy offers a BHO Manager that scans Internet Explorer for unnecessary plug ins that are slowing you down on surfing. Registry Easy also offers junk file removers, evidence cleaners and duplicate cleaners.

Registry Mechanic offers a pull down menu that will take you straight to help files if needed. This is a good convenience feature.

RegCure has an extensive online FAQ and help library on their website that exceeds the others combined. Ideally, you should not have to get any help in the first place due to the products being so simple to download and use.

Criteria Number Four: Scanning and Repair Options

Because of Registry Easy having evidence scanners and junk file cleaners, again they win another category. Still, both Registry Mechanic and RegCure offer sufficient scanning choices for what the software is intended to do.

Criteria Five: Weaknesses

Registry Easy lacked the help file detail that the others had. I was never placed in a position where I had to use such files, so this was irrelevant. Otherwise, this product was rock solid.

RegCure lacked many of the features offered by Registry Easy but did what it was there for. It did take two rounds of scan and repair to clear all of the errors on the PC tested.

Registry Mechanic did not discover nearly the number of errors that the others did but still managed to clean off a DLL error that I tried both other products to do (and they could not do it).

Summary

I was impressed by all three products over the 11 others I had initially tested. Of the six finalists, the three registry repair software products reviewed here were my top three.

Simply put, you cannot go wrong on any of the three.

Having Backup Data Is Always Recommended

No matter if the files that you are dealing with are personal or business related, keeping backup data is extremely important. The hard fact is that all computers, no matter how well built, are subject to failure at some point.

The failure of one small computer component can result in lost data. While the loss of personal information can be heartbreaking, when businesses suffer the loss or corruption of data it can mean lost time, money and in some cases clients.

While some systems are set up to recover deleted files, it depends on the type of problem that has caused the information loss. Unfortunately, some problems cannot be easily repaired.

Whether your business is a small operation or a larger, upscale enterprise, if it utilizes a computer system to store files, then there is a need to have backup data. Your company has no doubt spent several man hours, not to mention the money spent paying employees, working on the information that is contained in your files.

These files can be lost in a matter of seconds when an unforeseen problem occurs. It should be of the utmost importance to make sure that the information in those files is protected. Fortunately, in this day and age there are several options available for data backup and recovery.

Technology has made it relatively easy for businesses to restore backed up data. Companies can utilize several options from CD-R’s, CD-RW’s and DVD’s to NAS and SAN Storage. NAS stands for network-attached storage, while SAN is for storage area network.

NAS operates on data files and is a single storage system and SAN uses a local network of multiple devises operating on disk blocks. Having one or more backup resources can be extremely important to your business. The key is finding out which system will work best for your file system and computer set up.

No matter what system you use for backup data, the important thing is that you do something. Imagine working on various projects for months, only to lose all of the information in the blink of an eye. These situations are definitely unfortunate for all involved, but simply hoping that your system will always be up and running is not a good solution.

If you are not sure which system would be best for your business, then try researching different types of backup services that are available. A lot will depend on the amount of files that will need to be backed up and of course on the system that you are running. Researching recovery services now will save you time and money if you are forced to look for a data recovery service later.

Removing Adware Made Simple: 3 Steps to Rid of Adware without a Trace

Adware has become a huge business. Advertisers pay software companies large sums of money to design software that will either create pop-ups on your computer or to find ways to get annoying ads on your computer. In addition, these companies also capture your behaviors while online without your consent. Your feelings are really not a consideration in their process.

One way to avoid some of the problems is to be very careful about what you download and sites you visit online. When you choose to download a program, be sure to read the EULA (End User License Agreement) as you will often give permission to have ads loaded onto your computer.

If you have annoying pop ups and are ready to rid of the issue, the steps to follow will assist you in getting adware and other parasites off of your PC including spyware, malware, browser hijackers, and keyloggers.

Step One: Make a List of Problems on Your PC Currently

It is good to have an understanding of what problems you are already having so that you can ensure that they are repaired once the following steps have been completed.

Take a few minutes to jot down problems that you have noticed recently in your computer. If you are experiencing consistent and annoying pop-ups, put that on your list. If you have slow computer problems because of problems adware is causing, write that down too. If you are directed to websites that you did not request put that on your list.

Some of the problems will be related to other threats and not adware, but the steps to follow will address more than just removing adware.

Step Two: Use a Free Scan to Determine if Problems Exist

The top products for removing adware provide a free scan prior to paying for repair features in the same software. Avoid completely free products for scan and repair as you again are subjecting yourself to adware installs on your PC (as discussed about the EULA). In return for using the free software, you will often give them consent to view your online behaviors or to broadcast ads to your computer. Free is not always free.

There are a couple types of software downloads on the market. The first has a real time component and the second can be updated before each use and you scan and repair as needed. The rela time version keeps adware from attaching itself to your computer to begin with. The only challenge with real time is that their definition (solutions) database often is missing a detection or cure at the present time, which just uses your system resources to have the software continually running on your PC.

Some other software programs like Xoftspyse, refuse to offer real time functions for the reasons above. Their software can be used on a scheduler or you can just do a manual scan and repair as needed. More importantly, you must look at the definitions database provided so that threats on your computer can be matched to and removed by the software.

Step Three: If Threats are Detected, Purchase the Full Version

Results should be returned to you according to threat level. It is your decision which you would like to remove. The majority of the problems detected are safe to remove.

If you are a non techie, the software can be trusted to complete the repair with the peace of mind knowing that a backup exists in case you are not happy with the outcome. There is plenty of assistance on the web for techies who would like to complete their own manual removals, but this is for the rest of the people who want simple and quick outcomes.

When choosing a product, get one with at least a one year license instead of a one time use. This will allow you to maintain your computer throughout they year versus just for one use.

Once the repair is complete, it can be a wise decision to restart your computer to allow the changes to take effect. You can then return to your initial list from step one and see which problems have gone away.

It may also be valuable to have an ongoing strategy of keeping adware and spyware off your computer in the first place by limiting sketchy sites visited and by not downloading without reading EULAs.

Removing adware is that simple. Just be sure to do it continually for the best results.

Yahoo Will Be Testing Google’s AdSense For Search Service

Yahoo which is battling a takeover attempt from Microsoft, said Wednesday it would temporarily carry Web search advertising from Microsoft rival Google.

The two-week experiment could show whether Yahoo can bolster its slumping finances by outsourcing a key part of its business to Google, the Internet giant.

Yahoo said in a statement that it would run the ads as part of a test that would only last up to a couple of weeks and would be limited to no more than 3 percent of Yahoo’s search queries. “This is only a limited test and does not necessarily mean that Yahoo will join the AdSense programme.”

As with all such deals, Yahoo would get the majority of the money from the ads and Google would keep the rest. Yahoo would also be able to make significant job cuts to its search advertising team, saving money, according to analysts.

The need to better compete with Google in search-based advertising is at the heart of Microsoft’s desire to acquire Yahoo. It said last Saturday that if Yahoo did not agree to the deal in three weeks, it would seek to oust the board and replace it with directors who would vote in favour, and it may lower the price of the offer.

Yahoo’s motives for the test are unclear, but the company could be trying to show investors that it has alternatives to boost profits, and ultimately its stock price, other than a Microsoft takeover. On the other hand, the company could be using the test to prod Microsoft into sweetening its offer. Yahoo has said repeatedly that Microsoft’s offer of $31 a share is too low.

It’s a point that Microsoft Corp., which has faced its own anti-trust scrutiny for its dominance of the desktop software market, hammered home in response to the Yahoo-Google test.

Analysts at Citigroup have calculated Yahoo could boost its annual cashflow by 25 per cent by outsourcing the sale of search ads to Google, because Google has more efficient technology and an agreement would allow Yahoo to cut its own investment in this area. But a tie-up would give Google control of more than 90 per cent of all the advertising sold next to search engine results, putting the deal at risk of being blocked by regulators. Talks in the days after Micro-soft made its hostile offer failed to get off the ground.

Sceptics suggested that Yahoo’s renewed flirtation with Google was little more than an attempt to pressure Microsoft to raise its offer.

How to Remove Spyware in Three Easy Steps

One fact of life is that as long as we have computers we will be subjected to threats from spyware, adware, malware, Trojans, keyloggers (watching our keystrokes), and annoying pop-ups. In other words, we must find a way to handle the issue versus letting it just happen.

Fortunately, there are solid tools to remove these threats. With some basic steps and quality spyware remover software, your current problems will fade in 10-15 minutes.

This article will focus on correction of spyware, adware, and malware problems and not prevention, so you may want to also want to research a strategy to prevent spyware from attaching itself onto your computer in the first place.

The following five steps will assist you to remove threats that currently exist on your computer:

Step One: Notice Problems that Currently Exist

Knowing a baseline (starting point) of problems is always useful because you can then compare the problems with the results after the repair.

Write down all of the issues that you have noticed on your computer that have caused challenges for you. For example, if you are directed away from your normal home page while browsing the internet and are taken to undesirable sites, write it down. If you are getting pop-ups that just keep appearing, write it down. If your computer is crawling like a turtle, write it down.

Step Two: Choose a Product to Conduct a Free Scan

Most of the quality products on the market offer free scan ability prior to purchasing a repair element within the software. If you are looking for a product that is completely free, there can be a price to pay in additional spyware installed to your system due to the EULA (End User License Agreement) you agree to when downloading the software. In exchange for having the free software, you often agree to allow them to view your online habits or to send advertising to you. So, is free really free? You decide.

There are two types of products out there. One has real time protection and the other can just be updated before each use and you run it as you like. Real time keeps spyware and adware from loading to your PC in the first place. The only problem is that often their definition (solutions) database does not have a detection or cure yet, so you are just using system space during running processes.

There are software programs, like Xoftspyse that choose not to run real time and can be used on a scheduler or manually as you need them. The important factor is the level of database they have that can match to and remove threats from your PC.

Step Three: After Getting Free Scan Results Pay for the Repair Function

The results should come back according to threat level. You can then decide what you would like to rid of. Most of the results are usually cookies which are relatively safe to remove.

If you are a non technical type, you can trust the software to do the job knowing that a backup is there in case you do not like the results. There is plenty of data available for people who wish to do their own manual removals, but that we are aiming at simplicity and speed here.

Choose a product that gives a long-term license and not just a one time use. This will allow you to run the software once a week (or as needed) for at least a one year timeframe with the same investment.

After you repair your system, it is always a good idea to shut down and restart your computer for the changes apply. Go back and compare the results to your initial list.

Again, a strategy to remove software is only one piece of the solution. The other is to start developing habits that will keep spyware from adhering to your computer in the first place, which is a topic for another article.

Online Arcade Sites Are Not Babysitters

My aunt inspired this article. What she used to do, is that she used to leave her 7 year old son before an online arcade website with some food and drinks by his side and then went on with her daily outdoor routine. I presume there are a few other parents like her in the world.

Now, what’s wrong with her? She thinks of an online arcade site as a babysitter, someone to engage and keep her kid entertained and out of trouble while she’s away for short periods. Well, what’s wrong with what my aunt’s line of thinking?

An online arcade site seems to fulfill many of the functions that a babysitter seems to, at the first glance. It engages a child and keeps him happy and entertained. It keeps him out of trouble, as the child will be busy playing game after game and so has no time to run around and cause havoc.

This line of thinking certainly has its merits. An online arcade site is addictive fun indeed. It can engage and entertain anyone let alone a child, as long as need be. There are lots of varied and very interesting games on these sites.

An online arcade website can challenge a child in many ways and keep him happy. But everyone must take breaks once in a while from the computer. A babysitter attends to a child’s every need and keeps him safe.

Arcade sites satisfy the fun aspect, keep the kid engaged and away from getting into trouble. But too much play without any breaks can be bad. If left alone, a child invariably keeps playing and doesn’t take breaks. Just as well, a child should have fun, but the fun shouldn’t lead him to be lonely and alone.

It shouldn’t replace his social interaction with other persons. Every kid needs to interact with other persons; this will help him in learning various social lessons such as how to interact with other people.

Oh and keeping food and drinks near a child playing arcade games doesn’t mean he will feed himself. Sometimes he may forget to eat and drink, as he plays one fun game after another. This can lead to health problems, due to not eating at proper times or not eating food at all.

So if you are a parent and you think that an arcade site can replace a babysitter, think again. It’ll be better for you and your child to have a person looking over your child and interacting with him. Let him have fun with an arcade site, but not at the cost of other important things.

An online arcade site is good, but don’t see it as replacement for the human aspect that every child should have in his life. Oh and about my aunt, she no longer leaves her kid alone with an online arcade site, to fend for himself because I showed her this article a few days ago. She is a bit embarrassed, but thankful for the “nudge” in the right direction.

The Visual Entertainment Offered In Video Games

Video games are a type of entertainment electronics that have a common component of a visual, or video, interface for input and feedback. In general, this can include any kind of software game that utilizes some type of display, such as a TV screen, a computer monitor or small display built right into the gaming unit.

When video gaming was first introduced into the marketplace, the term “video” referred rather specifically to what was known as a raster display device. However, today the term “video game” simply means any kind of video display that is able to interact with the software games and correctly display the functions of the game.

There are a number of brands of electronic systems on the market that are specifically designed for video games. Each video game system is known as a separate platform. The most common and popular video game platforms are the PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox brands.

These dedicated game platforms usually are attached to a standard television set which becomes the screen for the games. There are also handheld versions of some of these gaming platforms and these units will have a small video screen built into the unit. Some of these games will also run on a Pocket PC device which is another good option for portability and convenience.

In addition to the dedicated gaming platforms, there are also many software games that will run on Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computers. This means that anyone with a computer can also enjoy playing games with a variety of computer software gaming options and without having to buy a separate, dedicated video game platform.

Usually, there is a much wider variety of software games that run on computers than the number of games available for the dedicated boxes. But at the same time, video gaming enthusiasts often prefer the video game platforms because the games are more interesting, intense and challenging.

Another aspect to consider is that the dedicated platform for a video game is designed more for multiple players and so that is often an advantage that is preferred. Also, games that run on computers are often considered more limiting because the size of the computer monitor is generally much smaller than the size of the television screen to which the dedicated game boxes are connected.

In many households, the computer is often used for homework, household management and business purposes, so therefore the computer is not as available for entertainment purposes. This is another reason that the dedicated platforms for games are popular because it avoids the fight over the use of the computer.

For years now, video games have been very popular and this continues to increase. This is a trend that is expected to continue, as the game developers constantly improve their devices and integrate the latest advancements in technology into their platforms. There is no doubt that people will be enjoying video gaming systems for many years into the future.
