hey ig ot it wen it came out and i wish i would of gotten the i7 processer and if u r gettin the 3d it means up to 12 gigs of ddr3 ram
but its such a nice system it compares close to my brothers alienware mx17 r3 but i paid arond 1500 while he paid 2500 for his alienware

@707antonio33 nah im not gonna get the 3D i dont see any point in it to be honest, i got the money for it it’s just i dont want to waste my money on something im not gonna use, but thanks for the advise :)

Don’t buy this thing unless Nvidia fixes the problems with optimus. Check the forums of NVidia, you can see nothing but problems.

I got both xps 17 3d and alienware m17x r3 before two days and both of them are working fine but xps has some lower fps than alienware .
So i want to know that weather i can upgrade xps gpu from gt555m to gtx 580 gpu that i got in alienware plz reply

@sansunayana You can’t. And the XPS is not a gaming laptop so of course it’s not going to be as fast as an Alienware. Why would you think a XPS would be better than an Alienware in gaming. BTW you spelled whether wrong. GRAMMAR NAZI FTW!!!!

@Ripafartstudios you know this is just a cheap model of alienware eh? alienware is dell. and you can costumise the xps 17 just like alienware.

@isaldore They have the same options except the video card, and the cooling is better, some models allow even 2 video cards. And i do highlight CHEAPER model of alienware, alienware evolves around gaming and over clocking, which cooling is needed, which increases speed of the processor. if you do this on the xps then it will burn out in less than a minute.

@OKEKOBEB Depends, if you have the 3D capable card, you will not have optimus at all, so it wont be bringing any problems ;)

can’t wait to recieve this freaking beast. I’m still pretty amazed that the top end 17 cost around $1200 right now. Now, I just need to get it before BF3 beta is released — it’s truly a race between the 2, and either way I win!

i bought mine with the I7-2820qm,16gb ram and dual 500hd with a 555m card. Basically i got every high end option Dell offered on this machine. And with my employee discount it was a good deal! This puppy cooks!

I’m getting the loaded options version of this Dec 17th kinda ironic huh? Dec 17 / XPS-17 & i7 . My version will run me about 2,600 but with a $18k holiday bonus, it’ll be a gift to myself well worth it. Thanks youtuber for this vid. Been shopping around for 2 months and this vid helped me go with this over the comparable M18x and Asus G74sx 3D. Alienware was proven to be too unstable (although the 18.4″ alienware screen would’ve been nice).
