Maybe u can help me :)
Current set up
Dell Dimension 3000 “windows xp SP2″
W Digital IDE 40GB conncted to a cable, one end labeled sys, other HD1
The other side of the cable (other side of mother board) was connected to optical drive, this side of cable had 2 ports, for drive 0 and drive 1, i disconned the optical drive
I wanted to install a new HD as a slave, its same HD as existing but 80GB
I disconnected HD1 cable from existing HD and changed the jumper to Master, reconnected to “Drive 0″ on other end of cable and attached the slave to Drive 1 slot, ensuring that jumper settings were set to Slave
Rebooted PC and it starts ok both drives are present under disk drives in system devices but under my computer only C drive is present
Went into BIOS and only drive recognised is the original Drive which is now secondary Master, there is no primary master, or any slaves listed in the Bios, any ideas?
…. my cable is different. instead of 4 insert things, theres 3 ( 1 connected to the CD drive, then to the HDD, and then to that motherboard or w/e its called….) help???
Hola , Esta Bueno el video solo te recomiendo que trates de no tocar la placa logica del hdd , y que uses una pulsera anti estatica para evitar daños por la estatica, a los componentes , saludos y suerte OK
question can u leave the slave hard drive in the case just for extra drive space is that possible or it can make some complications in the system and can this be done from slow computers?
Question: I am trying to slave from a bit older comp. I see from your vid u can splice the power but i dont see another connector coming from the cable off the hard drive of the master (older) comp. Can i buy a cable that would splice etc so that I could hook up the slave hard drive to it?
Thanks
@rebellionlv3 it is a good idea to have more storage, use external hard drives only for backup and internal drives for storage. Speed shouldn’t matter unless you play games or videos from the second drive
@smazz104 smazz104 I am a little unsure about what cables you are missing this post on our blog might be more helpful feel free to comment there as it will get answered by a tech

@bowthug12 Of course you can, it just has to be the right dimensions. It’s like 2.5′ by x. I forget, just google it.
