I have an older version of Microsoft word and I need to add my last name and page number in the top right hand corner of my paper. I found the part where you click Insert and page numbers so I have the page numbers but how can i get my name in front of it? It won’t let me click on the numbers to add to it…

Try clicking anywhere in the header to start typing there. Can’t figure out why it seems to be blocking you.
Click back in the main text to get out of the header.

header and footer can let you type in there… you should be able to double click the number though and open the header.
