Okay well im a junior in high school and I love computers and thought I would take up something that is involved with them career wise for when I graduate. What classes should I take in college.
Also what is the difference between a computer programmer and a engineer, and would it be hard to become a either of them if I am not all that good with math.?
WOULD APPRECIATE ALL FEED BACK.

If you are bad with math, neither is the field for you, though programming would be the better choice. Maybe you should choose something like network administrator. I don’t think that would require much in the way of math.

I would suggest taking any designing/programming classes that your college provides. It all depends on where you attend and what they offer. Speak to your advisor when you get there and see what they offer.

Hello
engineer – you will do the hardware.
programmer – you will create a software.
As for me you’d better learn some web language like PHP or something.
I’m a pro google advertiser.I’m 16 years old.I have never learned my homework and I had good marks at school, because I have done some jobs, I’m helping teachers with they’re pc’s.
One more better for programmer use the Mac.
I’m glad if i could help you.

Both require math. CE deals more with hardware activity and at major universities Computer Engineering is a 5 year degree plan with engineering classes. CIS you will at least accomplish algebra, calculus, trigonometry and differential equations.
Math isn’t that hard. It is much like learning a musical instrument. The more you put into it the better you feel.
The other branch of Computer Science deals with database. That takes 4 years of business courses alongside the database aspects. More demand at the moment for DBA which isn’t so outsourced like the coders’ job duties. Database is more static, not so evolving. CIS I learned stuff that was old before I hit the street.

Ahh.. at the point of wanting to make a career decision, I remember that day.
Programmers are in high demand right now, especially if you know PHP or javascript or any other of the higher languages. Programmers specialize in languages (html, php, visual basic, etc), thats what they know and know well.
Engineers are people who know a lot about everything. Lots of schooling, lots of things to know. They encompass a solid understanding of all that is involved in the technology world within a certain subject/category that is being demanded.
Let me tell you something, this is coming from a personal level.. you need to love this in order to do it for a living. Computers and technology is something you need to live for and love in order to survive in it in a career. I thankfully got started when I was 9 years old, my future kid is going to come out knowing visual basic already. be sure that technology in general is something that you are going to want to do for the rest of your life. If it is already and you have made that decision, become an expert in it all.

Programmer would most likely deal with creating programs and simulations, while an engineer would most likely be making computers and making parts ECT. Personally I think engineer would be funner and easier, I build my own computers and its really easy to learn, at least for me it was.

you have got many feedbacks regarding hw to become so and so…
i can tell you that if u have interest computer programming and devlopment, there is a very good site, http://www.booksofall.info
There is special section for computer and IT engineers where you can get all of its material… it can be really helpful to you…
go to engineering section and select the branch accordingly.
