Compaq looks nice if the price of the laptop is same as Dell’s.
However, you need more than 1GB of RAM; 2GB would be perfect.
I personally don’t trust Dell or any other American brand,
but if it’s cheap, why not?
Good luck and take care of your laptop often.

I would get the first computer. As it has a duel core processor and is better then a celeron. It also has more space and a better Warranty.
You can buy more system memory for the laptop ram. But I can’t tell what the ram type is. But when you do get the laptop you pick out you can go to http://www.crucial.com and use their system scanner to find what laptop system memory it can support.
As for installing memory there is a panel under the laptop that should open directly to the memory. (if not get a Computer tech) From there you should follow the instructions that would come with the laptop or system memory.
Ps: turn off the cap lock.
