Unix itself is proprietary and you aren’t going to download a current version. Linux, a Unix derivative, is available in over 300 flavors. Try Ubuntu. Download the 8.10 desktop image file, burn it to a CD (as an image, not as a file) and Install Inside Windows. Then you can restart the computer in Windows or Linux.
Unix is a completely different stand-alone operating system.
You will have to install it to a machine to use it. If you want to install it within Windows Xp, look up a tool called VMWare, it will allow you to install multiple operating systems and run them simultaneously.
