Depends on what you are putting together. This PSU was more than enough for what we put together.
February 4th, 2010 on 1:25 am
There is nothing wrong with pairing the UCP1100W PSU with the Storm Sniper Case. It is a nice fit and complements the case nicely.
February 4th, 2010 on 1:26 am
The reason we went with such a big PSU was the upgradability factor and the fact that we were running a SLI configuration.
February 4th, 2010 on 6:27 pm
Yeah big power in small package but that’s just not the way I would go.
February 7th, 2010 on 2:28 pm
This PSU is one of the most energy efficient PSUs you can buy. They aren’t many more on the market that can top this one.

Why not go with the 640GB Drive? Only $5 more and way faster.

Would a gaming PC even need over 8 gbs of RAM? cause like, these guys at the shop kept telling me i’d need up to 10 Gbs for a really good gaming PC, but i see people running GTA IV on Max with only 4 gbs, I guess its the GPU that really counts right?
March 13th, 2010 on 6:21 pm
I personally use 8GB of memory in my setup. GTA IV uses the memory on the graphics card. I would recommend getting a graphics card with a lot of memory. GTA IV is very memory intensive. My 4870 with 1GB memory gets maxed out really easy on GTA IV. I can’t even play at the highest settings.

Ohhh, So i’m guessing my PC
Specs
CPU – I7 920
RAM – 3x2Gbs DDR3 1333 mhz
GPU – 2×4770 W 1 Gbs VRAM each
would be able to run it on max?

My current PC specs are
-AMD Phenom II x4 925 @ 3.2 Ghz
-Ati Radeon hd 5850
-4GBs of RAM
-Aprevia Dreamer Mid Tower Case
Hopefully my upgraded PC
-Intel core i7 920
-2x Ati radeon hd 5850
-8GBs of RAM
-COOLER MASTER HAF Black Steel ATX Full Tower Case
Im trying to sell my old 700 dollar PC.

hi…can you give me your opinion…i’m on a slightly tight budget…i have to choose between a 4GB Hyper-X 1600 DDR3 (CL9) @ a 6GB 1333 DDR3 (CAS8)…im in a dilemma…

April 18th, 2010 on 12:43 pm
@kodemunke if you ran ATI you could save on heat output, your electric bill, & money on a smaller PSU! lol.
April 18th, 2010 on 12:45 pm
it’s a nice rig! I’m just personally not a blue or green fan. Used to be a green fan until their prices got way too high.

@TiGeRiSpWnAgE
gaming pc need 8GB of RAM at max (more ram = pointless) but i see an difference between 4GB and 8GB. My Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz@4.0Ghz with 8800gtx and 4gb ram with game CRYSIS:WARHEAD have min. fps 15, average 30 and maximum 38. It suck because it drops below 30… I added 4GB of RAM (2x4GB) and the minimum fps was 28, average 32 and maximum 40. So now it’s “playable”. The same thing in GTA IV/AVP3 and COD4/COD6.
SO 8GB RAM in gaming pc is for RAISING minimum framerate a lot!

@aztechnotronic
if u have AMD board with HYBRID CROSSFIRE mode and AMD GFX – choose the 1600 one… (it will be faster in hybdrid crossfire). But personally i would prefer the 6GB.
April 23rd, 2010 on 7:51 pm
@PowerMaxSite Lol, I know a guy with 12 gigs of RAM and he’s just like…Braggin’ about it xD
Stupid bastard, like i guess the only thing you would seriously need that much RAM for would be if you were SERIOUSLY multi-tasking or something…like running virus-scans, defragmenting your hard drive, and running a HD video while playing a Game like GTA IV xD

You sound a bit boring. Your voice just sounds so tired that I could almost swear that you didn’t sleep properly. Not that the things you say would be boring (of course not, I love hardware things :D), but ur voice.. It just sound so tired! Makes me tired kinda too.

BTW, why on earth CNPS9900 Zalman!??! WHY DO PEOPLE BUY THAT CRAP. Who buys such an expensive cooler with yet such a low performance. NOCTUA NH-D14. The best cooler you can get for its price. PPL don’t buy that Zalman piece of crap.

@TiGeRiSpWnAgE Gaming doesn’t require that much RAM, it tends to come in more handy for other appications such as video editing, photoshopping and heavy multitasking. For the average gaming system I’d say 4GBs on an 1156 board or 6GBs for a 1366 board. And if you are planning to make frag videos or do a lot of editing and multitasking go for 8GB on 1156 and 12GB on 1366 and even then, you’ll find you have overhead memory to spare pretty much all the time.
