My complete review on Apple’s Mid-2010 Mac Pro (8-Core) model. This machine is definitely pricey, but it offers and the best workstation and lives up to its performance factor. Two 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” processors 6GB of memory (DDR3) 2x 1TB HDD’s 18x double-layer SuperDrive ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5 Are the price points of the new lineup Mac Pro’s worth its price? @FAKEBC Agreed – but you may just want to go with an iMac in that case – Mac Pro’s are meant for Pro-Sumer users.

i think they should make a new and cheaper mac not as good as all the new ones but good and nice like for 400-600 bucks and not as fast but good for games and work with 2 gigs of ram and u can upgrade it to a 1000 dollar mac…

Actually the single 6 core model is (marginally) more powerful than the 8 core
Total CPU power:
8×2.4GHz: 19.2GHz
6×3.33GHz: 19.98GHz
The 6 core will out do the 8 core at most tasks – especially single threaded operations which is what most Adobe applications work in – Photoshop for instance. Have a look on the “mac performance guide” website before you buy an 8 core because a 6 core might better suit your needs as the “sweet spot” in value. A little research will go a long way…

@AppleGenius0921 I was planning on buying an iMac but then I saw all the trouble required in simply replacing the hard drive. Taking apart the entire screen just to replace the hard drive is just ridiculous. Until Apple fixes that iMac problem I guess I’ll just stick with my old Mac mini.

October 25th, 2010 on 3:13 am
@haiti1800 Go for BOXX
October 25th, 2010 on 3:14 am
@renegade8164 It’s a OCZ inside. That’s definitely the fastest SSD I know
October 25th, 2010 on 3:18 am
@dSondre Wow 2 Quad-Core Xeons for 1000 dollars. and they are better then 5670′s don’t think so. Even with a on-board video card, You can’t beat this processor Power, The same speed on your Ram. And a Quality Video Card.
So Dream on
October 25th, 2010 on 3:20 am
@SVTFilms Sure. Try to beat 12 Cores PC Power for the same price, impossible
October 25th, 2010 on 3:21 am
@sebianoti Nope Try to buy a IBM or BOXX with the same power.
Your definitely pay alot more. But Apple and BOXX Rule

@Cornerstar24 I have an OCZ Vertex 2 in my macbook pro and it’s fast.. , but Apple usually uses brands as Thosiba, Samsung etc.
October 25th, 2010 on 5:39 pm
@renegade8164 In the MacPro it’s a OCZ, in my iMac ive built a OCZ in Myself.
And have a MacBook pro 13″(late 2008) 320 Gb SATA 300 Hitachi 7200 Rpm

I’m thinking about two macs. 27″ iMac i7 8Gb ram & FCS or Mac Pro 8 Core 6gb ram 2x1tb. for video editing.
November 28th, 2010 on 5:45 pm
Is any of that necessary? You can get that same PC for a thousand less if you build it yourself.

What a worthless pile of junk. No software even benefits from this waste.
December 2nd, 2010 on 12:04 am
@War3Hog101 That is the question.
December 2nd, 2010 on 12:08 am
Yay!
December 4th, 2010 on 1:06 am
Wow this thing is grossly overpriced, unless you’re running a server. Apple needs to learn how to include a decent video card in their systems. Then again, OSX isn’t for gaming.
December 9th, 2010 on 9:49 am
@AppleGenius0921 I would disagree with that, I think the point of getting a mac pro is for easy upgrades. I’m getting one fairly soon, i got the quad core with the better graphics card, and i feel that it will last me a decade based on the games im playing. Also, I’ve always felt that a seperate display is better for mac computers.
December 14th, 2010 on 1:41 am
@onlivegamer Now it has 12 cores
December 30th, 2010 on 3:53 am
@FAKEBC aka imac?
January 16th, 2011 on 11:05 am
Hi, I assume you are still using this. Have you made any upgrades or re-viewed the model since you bought it?
