So I’m moving into my dorm at college next month and I have a big problem. All of the dorms on campus have WiFi, however, the one in particular that I am in is built like Fort Know with lead plated walls and the wireless doesn’t actually make it into the rooms. To fix this they give each student a handy ethernet cable. Not such an issue so far. I can hook my laptop up via the ethernet cable, but EVERYTHING else I have works on wifi. My printer, my Xbox, my iPod, my Kindle, a whole slew of the apps on my phone, most of my media utilities, my DS, and it would be nice to not have to sit in the corner with my laptop tied to the wall with 3ft. of ethernet cable. Does anyone have any ideas how I can turn 1 measely ethernet cable into wireless? Can I do it if I just get a wireless router? Any help is greatle appreciated.

Get a wireless router. Cisco and Netgear are the best.

If the college advertised WIFI in the dorms, I’d darn sure make sure they fixed it! But then, you could always get a wireless router and use that 3 ft ethernet cord to hook it up………

A wireless router will do the trick. I’d ok it with the IT group at the college first.
