Maps have always been a part of Guild Wars and are a great feature that can really help you and your party navigate your way across the Kingdoms of Ascalon. By default the map is displayed in the bottom right corner of your screen. The maps found in Guild Wars will allow you to see enemies, beasts, and NPC’s from a distance. The map format is pretty simple - green dots indicate an ally on the map and a red dot indicates an enemy on the map. Items of special interest, such as Resurrection Shrines or entrances to towns and outposts, show up with special icons.

In Guild Wars Eye of the North, Arenanet introduced dungeons as a new and involving feature of the game. As a result they also had to introduce new maps and icons to cater for the new additions. Dungeons on the map are displayed in total darkness until they have been thoroughly explored. By exploring the dungeon you will gradually reveal more of the map - however, with the help of the dungeon maps that can be found you can reveal the entire layout for that level. These maps aren’t very detailed but they’re enough to get about the dungeons without any frustration.
