Just buy and OCZ Vertex 2, put it in an usb 3.0 external drive enclosure and you have a much faster drive :D
January 14th, 2011 on 9:38 pm
USB 3, and SATA 3 has come out already, but when will PCI-E 3.0 come out?
January 14th, 2011 on 10:04 pm
@bryctucker It’s not actually faster. It’s a theoretical speed and only in short bursts. SATA 2 has a more consistent throughput. USB 3.0 isn’t taking off nearly half as well as the industry hoped. It’s been around for over a year now and there’s still very few machines and devices that use it. Unless you build your own system and use the higher end boards then you’re not likely to see it as most OEM’s seem to not bother with it right now. Intel chipsets need to support it properly too.

@crazynsober2day SSD’s have a limited life span too. It’s all done on a mean average. Some die within days, some die years after the average says they should. This is why you should have backups of backups and offsite backups too, if your data is that important to you.

@ToxicFear1336 For doing what? Or is it just because you can and want to (that isn’t being derogatory by the way, it’s a perfectly legitimate reason)? I see people upgrading all the time for games, despite the fact there’s not really been anything to come out in the last few years that gives you a reason to upgrade as often as some people do. Gone are the days when games came out so fast the hardware couldn’t keep up. Now it’s mostly for media creation, like YouTube vids. Or bragging rights lol.

@TalesOfWar Hardware advances faster than software, actually.
January 14th, 2011 on 11:07 pm
@ToxicFear1336 a bit obsessive there aren’t we? seriously though, why would you need a new rig every 6 months?
January 14th, 2011 on 11:13 pm
@TalesOfWar oh yeah, i realize nothing is perfect. i’ve read some horror stories on certain brands of ssd. that’s why i’m going for reliability and lifespan over bleeding edge speed. not that i have any thing of importance, just games and music, really. but that is a really good point, as a lot of people think that ssd’s are fail-proof and last forever.

January 15th, 2011 on 3:01 am
@bigdima3 Nice. Not a big fan of the homophobic vernacular, but I support your cause.
January 15th, 2011 on 3:50 am
Don’t you blink?
January 15th, 2011 on 5:29 am
Thumbs up if you think people need to stop nagging about the not blinking.
January 15th, 2011 on 6:06 am
faster = expensive X(
January 15th, 2011 on 8:45 am
@flamingfd3s OMG… stop it with this blinking nonsense games…
January 15th, 2011 on 10:15 am
@bigdima3 No, people don’t hate first fags at all. First fags hates First fags.
January 15th, 2011 on 11:05 am
@TheMoo1231 so will every other piece of computer tech, that doesnt mean you shouldnt buy a computer
January 15th, 2011 on 11:32 am
who can tell what it is SSD? it is memory hard who you dont need to instal to your case?
January 15th, 2011 on 11:41 am
@xAxisTechReviews WRONG, sdd’s in raid degrade very very quickly as they don’t support TRIM, i was replying from someone who said that 2 sdd’s in raid 0 were “good”.

@Froanite SSD = Solid State Device. It basically is a ”harddrive” with high speed flash memory. This means that it is much faster write/read then normal HDD’s. Especially reading/writing 4K blocks is much faster (which means faster loading windows/other programs etc).

Great video! I’m using Kingston HYPER X DDR2 memory, works great. Sure that Kingston Hyper X SSD works great too! Watching with Sapphire 6970!
January 15th, 2011 on 4:06 pm
@TalesOfWar well, yeah it is the theoreical limit, and its only USB. but i do agree with you, it isn’t taking off as fast as i’d like to have seen it either.
i’ve had an X58 for a little while now, but i don’t have anything usb 3.0 so i can’t comment on intel chipsets needing to support it better
but i do wish it would work better, i have it and don’t use it, the reason is because i only have two machines in/around me, even at school/work anything that supports 3.0, thats my two i7′s.
January 15th, 2011 on 7:02 pm
@TheMoo1231 This is untrue, the drives have a garbage function that allows the drives not to degrade, you would not use this external drive in RAID anyways.
