I am a rising freshman in college and I was wondering which laptop is recommended. I mostly download music, use the internet, and store pictures on my computer. I can’t decide between a Macbook, a Dell XPS M1530 and a Sony Vaio CR Series Notebook. My budget is at most 00… Please Help!

Dell XPS hands down. can’t beat the warranty and the XPS has specialized tech support in the states just for those systems.

I bought a sony vaio, and I love it. The only thing I don’t like is Windows Vista. I hate it. but that’s going to come with any new laptop you buy unless you buy a mac.

I’d get the best Mac for the money. They last longer, don’t get viruses and are easy to use. The new ones will also let you run Windows through Bootcamp. Try them all at the store and don’t let the fact that the Mac doesn’t "look" like a PC bother you, it ISN’T a PC. Have someone who knows what they’re doing show it to you.

Buy a middle range MacBook. It has the best OS (Mac OS X) and you get a better experience because you troubleshoot problems less and it doesn’t get any viruses. It’s also better designed and more durable than the others, it only weights 5 pounds and is very travel friendly because it’s small.
Here are the specs:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
2GB RAM
160GB Hard Drive
13.3" TFT Display @1280×800 resolution
144MB X3100 Intel Integrated Graphics
Bluetooth
Wireless N Networking
5 hour battery life.
Price: $1299

I am a buying a new laptop in the fall for school and I’m going with HP. They have a new line of notebooks coming out between now and September so all of their notebooks are going to be equipped with the latest in technology. They also seem to have the best value for the money. My favorite thing about HP is that you can pick a notebook from their website and customize it with the specifications that you want. Their notebooks are also designed very well and are made with very reliable hardware. So my vote is for HP.
